Hi

Why did I choose this day as subject?

After that day security has chanced, at airports harbors ambassy's etc etc.
More and more they keep an eye on you and me.

When the second plane hit I might have seen it live on TV or just 2 or 3 minute's later when they showed it again. Around 3.05 pm (Amsterdam time) I was changing channels to go to one of my favorite programme's on the BBC, and than I sow what happend. On such a moment you think that you see a movie, but it isn't, it was for real.

For two weeks long I was watching TV by daytime and at night, with just a few hours sleep in between.
I was not afraid that after the 11-9 the and of the world was coming soon, but I was so shockt by wat I saw that day.

Talking abouth security; is it really nessesary all this security, or does the governments of the western country's have alternatives for taking care of the problems related to sept. 11 ?

Even as a christian I do not like it that the covernment goes so far with changing all sorts of rules concerning security, but on the other hands they give such a low punishment for a crime, that criminality is not getting less.

Is the big boss of the usa reacting on 11-9 as a christian or as a president?
How do we as christians need to react on events like sept. 11
Do we kneel down and pray for the harts and souls of those that are responsible for this tragedy on sept. 11 or shouting we "revence" (Rom. 12:19)

It is almost bedtime for me, so after some reactions I will give my common on it and might ad some more text to the above lines.

For now: good night and shalom

I think we should definitely be praying much more for our world and against the influence of evil.

However, I have some real problems understanding the position of the US in all this. Of course, Sept 11 2001 is a great tragedy and I mourn with those who lost loved ones on that terrible day.
At the same time, I wonder how many other innocent people lost their lives in acts of terrorism and war around the world on that very day, or in the months and years before. No one seems to have gotten very worked up on their account.

It seems to me that much of the US reaction, particularly the rhetoric of George W. Bush, relates to their assumed position of inviolability. With the exception of the attempt to bomb the World Trade Centre some years earlier, never before had there been a terrorist attack from outside the US on a target within the US.

However, I strongly disagree with the arguments put forward by the Bush administration regarding their war on terrorism, and especially with the way they are willing to circumvent any established bodies or agreements (UN, Geneva convention on treatment of prisoners of war, etc.).

The last straws, as far as I am concerned, are:
1. the obvious lack of planning and foresight in terms of building up and restoration in Iraq (fat contracts to those companies with close ties to the US have already been signed)
2. the blocking of aid to those who need it most (all aid and development is supposed to run via the US govt., rather than the UN or other bodies with the experience and know-how to get things done)
3. the obvious stagecraft in showing G.W. Bush as the hero president, in preparation for his re-election, while internal affairs in his own country go from bad to worse

I could go on and on... but perhaps I have made my point. My response to the first posting is that, no, I don't think this is a Christian response and I find it hard to accept the sincerity of such a "Christian response" when I see what kind of baggage accompanies it.

And by the way, what is with the repeated insistence that Iran not interfere with the internal affairs of Iraq? What else are the US doing than interfering with the internal affairs of Iraq...??

The 9-11 thing was a tragedy and I hope things like that will never happen again.
Of course, the president of the US had to react in some way. Some think that he acted in a good way, some say in a bad way.

I have been in the States before the "Iraq war" started and I realized that Europe doesnīt like Bush period. I donīt know why that is, but itīs a fact.
Now, we in Europe only get mainly the information that makes the whole war and Bush look bad. In the US itīs the other way.
The truth is probably somewhere between.

I donīt generally agree with war and I still donīt know if itīs right what the US and Bush did, but I donīt want to be the one to judge about that.
In the old testament God sometimes ordered war, so maybe he orderen Bush to go to war too?!?

I cannot imagine the pressure under which Bush has been about this war and I hope that I never will expirience this pressure.
Itīs also a fact that Bush had to make his decision based on the information he had.
Now, even if Bush was a Christian (which I believe), he had to trust his advisors and they might have followed their own goals (e.g. the war lobby, ...) and I am sure that Bush prayed to God to help him make the right decision.
But after all, he is human and he still might have made the wrong decision.
All of us do that sometimes, itīs just that Bushīs decisions have a lot more effect on the world then for example my decisions.
Itīs not our job to judge whether he made the right decision or not and I guess the best thing we can do about the whole thing is PRAY FOR PRESIDENT BUSH.
That is the most powerful weapon we have, and Iīm sure that Bush appreciates our prayers.

I just wanted to say that I was really very impressed with what happened on the 11 september. I didn't understand why did God allowed that to happen. I am definetely praying for the American people as I think it is a blessed nation.
God bless America and God bless Romania !!!!!!!!!!! God bless Europe !!

I feel where America went wrong was declaring a war on terrorism (what has that really achieveed?) - he should have declared a war on poverty for it is this divide whoch helps create events such as these. The bible talks about showing love to your enemies and i fell this has not been done.

Feel the same way as Dave. Don't think that US acted the right way. I'm very sorry for those families that lost their loved ones, but still think the country kinda deserved it. You know, when you throw the stone so many times, sometimes it comes back, don't forget that thousands of people have died before because of US. So we should also be sorry for those. We should open our eyes....

It seems to me that Bush is more for "an eye for an eye" than giving the other cheek. Its exactly true, WWJD? Jesus would have given the other cheek instead of revenging. Everbody seems to be forgetting about the people that died in Afghanistan after Bush desided to point his revenge over there.

And to bomb Irak because he doesnt like the man that rules there (okay, I know he is bad, but there are more just like him, what should we do, just bomb them all, thats not very Christian) and accuses him of having some misterious nuclear weapons, that seem to be invisible because nobody has even found them. But why can USA then have nuclear weapons if Irak can't? And why can Israel have them? And why can all those horrible things be going on there with the blessing of the USA? I hope and pray that Bush doesnt get re elected, he is doing so much crazy stuff, Lord be with us!
